4 Common Dreams & How To Interpret Them

It’s been said that dreams can help us get a better understanding of ourselves and our unconscious. Dream meanings have been widely linked to how we are truly feeling in scenarios that are going on in our lives. It’s not about what you are dreaming about per say, but the imagery that appears and how it relates to your life.

Here are a few common dream interpretations to explain whats going on in your mind if this is what you see when you close your eyes:

Your Teeth Are Falling Out

I’ve definitely had this dream quite a few times in my life. I’ve heard that the specific meaning can be situational however many argue that it’s associated with death. On the other hand, this can signify a lack of confidence or power in a current situation in your life.

You Can’t Run

Although dreams are not very well understood, there are a few interesting explanations for them like, like those dreams where you can’t run no matter how hard you try. You’re making the motions but going at the speed of a snail, like you’re moving through water. This feeling can also happen when you are attempting to punch someone or something in your dream may believe it’s because your mind is the only thing that is picking up on the action of running – you aren’t experiencing the physical reality of the action like sweating, increased heart-rate, or the feeling of the floor under you. This could explain why we can’t sense the speed in which we are attempting because our body has nothing to base it off of.

Others experts have said that this can symbolize something in your life that is frustrating you or are dealing with a stressful situation in which you don’t know how you should handle.

Meeting A Celebrity

Believe me when I say that the only reason why I started binge watching Riverdale on Netflix after the first season was because I had a dream that Cole Sprouse was hitting on me in a bar and there was a flash mob present. I could not make this up if I tried. (I definitely tweeted him about it, too.) Dreaming about celebrities or public figures is actually more common than you might think. Behavioral Therapist, Shelley Smith, says that dreaming about a celebrity means we are seeking out some form of inspiration or a characteristic that is associated with that celebrity. Another specialist, Lauri Loewenberg, author of Dream On It, says that when we dream of celebrities, it signifies that we may be seeking attention or recognition for something. Hmm..

Cheating or Infidelity

Wooow, we’ve definitely been here before. And don’t lie, you woke up angry and suspicious, but can we blame you? Absolutely not. According to DreamMoods, dreaming of your partner cheating on you can symbolize feelings of neglect, fear of abandonment, low self-esteem, and mistrust – in any area of your life, not just a relationship.

In the opposite scenario in which you are the cheater, such actions can mean that you have gone against your integrity or that you betrayed yourself by going against your better judgment. With this, it can also symbolize self-guilt or dissatisfaction with your partner or a specific situation in your life.

Although there are multiple meanings for all dreams and there is no real concrete link between our dreams and our specific situations, it’s still important to pay attention to the imagery we experience in our dreams. Keeping a dream journal at your bedside and jotting down what you can remember is a really interesting way to keep a record of what we dreamed and help us decipher it later. The more frequent you write them down, the more details you’ll remember over time.
